San José, March 9 (RHC)-- Cuban business people residing in Costa Rica interested in investing in Cuba took advantage of a meeting with the Minister of Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment Rodrigo Malmierca to clear doubts about this process.

From tourism, agriculture, associations with micro, small and medium entrepreneurs of the Caribbean island, import of Cuban products and export to the island of different items appear among the interests of Cuban business people based in the Central American nation.

Malmierca explained that the new legislation in his country allows all these types of businesses to Cubans living abroad and highlighted the interest in exploiting this niche to increase the participation of fellow citizens in the different commercial and productive spheres of the island.

He also said that they are currently working on the solution to some subjective obstacles since the legislation is already clear that Cuba is open to the investment of its citizens living abroad.

Another participant expressed his desire to open in Costa Rica a franchise of one of the world-famous Cuban restaurants, for which both Minister Malmierca and the Vice MinisterDeborah Rivas explained the steps to follow and the possibilities offered by the existence of online tools.

Rivas added that the Mincex portal had enabled a space for the Single Window for Foreign Investment in which Cuban and foreign entrepreneurs who want to negotiate or partner with similar Cubans, both state and private, find all the steps and requirements to be fulfilled to materialize their operations.
