According to the Cuban Embassy here, the program took effect on Friday after being signed by Cuban Deputy Prime Minister Ricardo Cabrisas and President of the National Development and Reform Commission of China, He Lifeng.
The embassy reported that this plan is one of the main cornerstones regarding economic relations in 2021 and will make possible to effectively implement the memorandum of understanding signed by President Miguel Diaz-Canel in November, 2018, which made Cuba’s inclusion in this initiative official.
The document contains, among other aspects, the goals, principles, implementation mechanisms, as well as the main cooperation areas, especially policy coordination, infrastructure connection, free trade, financial integration and people-to-people ties.
The embassy added that both governments also agreed on a first list of projects and actions to develop sectors such as renewable energies, free trade and infrastructures, tourism, finances, telecommunications, science and technology, food and biomedicine.
They are also planning to join forces for the benefit of their peoples and in line with the goals of the Economic and Social Development Plan through 2030.
