Call Issued for Rally Outside White House in Solidarity with Cuba
especiales
Several U.S. organizations have called for a demonstration in Washington DC to demand the removal of Cuba from the list of state sponsors of terrorism. The protest will take place on June 25th outside White House and another of its objectives is to demand the end of the economic terrorism of the United States (US) towards Cuba.
Among the organizers of this initiative are: National Network on Cuba, which brings together more than 50 organizations that fight the blockade against Cuba; the incubator of social movements for the working class and marginalized communities in the U.S., The People's Forum and the International Assembly of Peoples that defines itself as an internationalist process that builds unity around anti-capitalism, anti-imperialism, ecology, feminism, and anti-racism.
The rally in the northern capital will be the culmination of a week of activities across the country. "For more than 2 years, many solidarity groups with Cuba in the U.S. and Canada have carried out caravans or pickets at the end of the month against the U.S. blockade of Cuba," the call reads.
Other planned initiatives in various U.S. cities include sending an Open Letter urging Representative Nancy Pelosi to use her influence and her political power to remove Cuba from the list of State Sponsors of Terrorism. They also have planned public actions in cities like Boston, New York, and Los Angeles.
