Alert issued in El Salvador due to rains

The National Directorate of Civil Protection issued a yellow alert in El Salvador due to the increase of rains forecast of today.

According to the forecasts for the next days, the entity suggested to the Ministry of Education to suspend classes on June 18 and 19 due to the climatic setback that could be complicated if a low pressure develops in the Pacific.

The entity issued the measure due to the intense rains and storm from the weekend forecast by the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources (MARN).

The report of this entity explained that the Intertropical Convergence Zone remains over Central America, but immersed in it “there are low pressures that form a wide depressive area or depressive field”. This will bring “intense, persistent and intermittent” rains, it stressed.

In El Salvador, the alert system is made up by the colors green, attention for possible threat, orange, caution for possible threat, yellow, preparation for possible threat, and red, action for imminent danger.
