AHS of Cuba Invites to Cuban Guitar School Meeting

HAVANA – The Hermanos Saíz Association (AHS) today announced the First Meeting of the Cuban Guitar School, to be held on November 18 and 19, where musicians, specialists, and professors will gather for discussions centered on the instrument.

The event is an initiative of the members of the Cuerdas del Alma Guitar Quartet, "reaffirming the commitment of the new generation to the preservation and promotion of our guitar school," the AHS commented on its social media.

This first edition will be dedicated to the 109th anniversary of the birth of master Isaac Nicola and the 90th birthday of composer Jesús Ortega.

The founding of the University of the Arts (ISA) and the AHS will also be celebrated, with both institutions supporting the event together with the Cuban Institute of Music, the University Student Federation, and the business group Palco.

The program will include concerts and dialogue sessions designed to foster learning among creators and experts from different Cuban provinces.

The Cuerdas del Alma Guitar Quartet is an ensemble founded on February 12, 2024, in the central province of Sancti Spíritus; its notable works include the musical pieces "Oeste," "Hasta Alicia baila," "Pasacalle espirituano," and "El necio."

Its members are Luis Javier García (leader), Gleibys Peralta, Abel Pino, and José Ángel García, all of whom are members of the AHS.
