Havana, November 1 (RHC)-- The Cuban boxing team extended on Monday to 15 its number of victories at the 2011 Belgrade World Championships, with the successes of Osvel Caballero (57 kilograms), Kevin Brown (67) and Yoenlis Hernandez (75).

At the Stark Arena, Caballero hit with greater precision and always kept the initiative to defeat the Armenian Artur Bazeyan by 5-0, four times saw him win by decision of 30-27 and one 29-28.

Tomorrow, the Cuban boxer will face for the bronze medal the Mexican Miguel Vega, who beat the Congolese Nathan Lunata by 5-0.

Then, Brown won 5-0 (quadruple 29-28 and 30-27) over India's Akash, supported by accurate straight punches that countered the Asian's hand speed and movements. For the bronze medal, the Caribbean will face the Georgian Lasha Guruli.

On the other hand, Hernandez beat Sumit, also from India, 5-0 (triple 29-28 and double 30-27) and tomorrow will fight for the bronze medal against Gabrijel Veocic from Croatia.

After losing the opening round, the Cuban increased his attack with hooks to the chin and stomach in the final two rounds to get the win.

The Cuban squad now has a record of 15 wins and two losses, and could reach 16 successes later when two-time world champion and Olympic titleholder Andy Cruz (63.5 kg) faces American Vershaun Lee (63.5 kg).
