Premiere in New York with Cuban-Made PuppetsHAVANA, Cuba, Oct 17 (acn) La Gloria (Glory), soon-to-be premiered by the U.S. group SEA Theater, based in New York and directed by Manuel Moran, will include designs conceived at the workshop of Cuban artist Zenen Calero, located in the city of Matanzas.
After seeing the plays Burundanga and Por el Monte Carule, by Teatro Las Estaciones, Moran asked me to design a show to pay tribute to the music group Sonora Matancera, Calero Medina told ACN in an exclusive interview.
La Gloria is a cabaret in heaven, where Myrta Silva and Daniel Santos, lead singers of the Sonora, are waiting for a Cuban who happens to be Celia Cruz, announced the creator, winner of the National Culture Award.
The design of the play to be presented by SEA in November in New York was born at El Retablo studio-workshop, located across the street from Town Council in Matanzas, the city of rivers and bridges, where the three puppet protagonists of the story were made.
