The volume, with prologue, complication and chronology by Yolanda Ferrer and Carolina Aguilar, includes a series of texts by the late Vilma Espín Guillois, such as speeches, interviews and notes between 1959 and 2005, enabling readers to take a look at the thinking and work of the renowned Cuban revolutionary leader.
Complementing the book are more than one hundred photos that take us on a tour of important moments in the personal and social life of the founder and President of the Cuban Women’s Federation.
According to Ferrer, Espín’s lessons of humanism and ethics are still in effect today, reason for which people can’t talk about Vilma, as she is called by Cubans, in the past. “She is one of those human beings who are gone but cannot be forgotten, she is a heroine and heroes who go beyond their time leave an ever-lasting imprint,” she concluded.
