The presidential candidate of Ecuador for the political movement Citizen Revolution, Luisa González, stated after the second round of elections that she does not recognize the results presented by the National Electoral Council (CNE), which declared the current president, Daniel Noboa, the winner.  She asserted that fraud was committed in the voter registration process to benefit him against the popular will.

“In front of my people, standing up as always and as befits good women,” I want to “be very clear and emphatic… the Citizen Revolution has always acknowledged defeat when the polls have shown it to be so,” but “today we do not recognize the results,” she emphasized.

"On behalf of the young men, women, and children I represent, we do not recognize the results presented.”

“I refuse to believe that there are people who prefer lies to the truth. We are going to ask for a recount and for the polls to be opened.”

The candidate denounced that the incumbent president abused his power.  He never requested a leave of absence to campaign and used the CNE to impose his authoritarian agenda, she stated.

Luisa Gonzalez added that he subsequently declared a state of emergency, all in an attempt to commit colossal fraud.  She recalled that 11 polls showed victory for the Citizens' Revolution, including those commissioned by the government itself.  And Luisa Gonzalez demanded that the polls be opened and a recount conducted.

"This is a dictatorship, and this is the most massive electoral fraud we Ecuadorians are witnessing," she emphasized.

"We will defend our right to democracy.  Ecuador cannot continue to be governed by a person incapable of leading it toward peace and development, someone who only prioritizes his business and the well-being of his family," he said.

"Today, more than ever, we must be vigilant about what the person who calls himself President of the Republic is doing.  I publicly denounce that he is committing fraud.  We continue the fight," she concluded.

Previously, González denounced the president's failure to request unpaid leave from the National Assembly and use state resources to campaign, in addition to failing to appoint the vice president-elect, Verónica Abad, as mandated by the Constitution.

The day before, Parliament and the legislative bloc of the Citizens' Revolution accused Noboa of violating fundamental rights by declaring a state of emergency without force majeure and imposing it in provinces where the vote was not in his favor.

A few hours earlier, Noboa decreed border closures to prevent the entry of international observers into the country who would contribute to the transparency of the runoff. Under no circumstances did the electoral arbiter, the CNE, rule against these and other irregularities.

Sunday evening, after the polls closed, former presidential candidate Andrés Arauz of the Citizens' Revolution party denounced the CNE's uploading unsigned voting records, a requirement established in Article 127 of the Code of Democracy to validate the results.

Arauz published images of six electoral records without the joint signatures of the president and secretary of the Voting Boards (JRV).  According to his complaint, all of these unsupported records favor current President Daniel Noboa.
