We are very proud that the Cuban capital is the chosen one. It will be a great opportunity to show the strong ties between the two nations (Cuba and Argentina), which go beyond the literary field, stated Enrique Avogadro, Minister of Culture for Buenos Aires.
On taking the floor at the launch of the next edition, Cuban Ambassador to Argentina, Orestes Pérez, noted that the slogan that identifies the Cuban presence in Buenos Aires will be: 'Havana, Real and Wonderful City of Arts.'
'The book fair will be a festival of Cuban literature and music, in which our Havana Malecón (seawall) and the Buenos Aires obelisk, son and tango, Alejo Carpentier, José Lezama Lima and Nicolás Guillén with Jorge Luis Borges, will be holding hands with Julio Cortázar and Ernesto Sábato, where the Argentine and Cuban people will come together as always in an embrace of poetry and love,' he said.
Stressing Cuba's extensive program of activities at the fair, Orestes Pérez noted that the Cuban stand will be inspired by the book 'City of Columns,' by Carpentier, and feature several areas and prominent sections.
In addition, there will be a large number of books dedicated to the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro, National Hero, José Martí, and to the Argentine-Cuban guerrilla Ernesto Che Guevara, books concerning race, sexuality, children's literature and youth and social sciences.
