'Julio Cortazar' Ibero-American Short Story Prize Winners Revealed

Havana, Aug 26 (Prensa Latina) As one of the most internationally recognized spaces for literary valuation and creation, the ''Julio Cortazar'' Ibero-American Short Story Prize closes its 18th edition, after revealing its winners on Monday.

Cuban writers and artists who shared close ties of friendship with Cortazar will participate in the event, to be held in the Dulce Maria Loynaz Cultural Center's Federico Garcia Lorca hall, in Havana.

International Spanish-language authors presented their texts in this edition, in which more than 300 literary works were evaluated by the jury, composed of renowned writers such as Argentine Roberto Ferro and Cubans, Alberto Marrero and Julio Travieso.

The event has become one of the most internationally recognized of its kind, in which the number of participants and the quality of the pieces increases each year.

Created on the initiative of prestigious Lithuanian intellectual Ugne Karvelis, the Julio Cortazar Ibero-American Short Story Prize each year aims to encourage those who write in the Spanish language.

The meeting is sponsored by the Cuban Book Institute, Casa de las Americas and the National Association of Cuban Writers and Artists, in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture of the Argentine Republic and the Alia Foundation.
