Historian, journalist and professor Pedro Pablo Rodríguez, National Prize for Social and Humanistic Sciences 2009, will be the guest of the cultural program Book on Demand, on January 23, at 3 p.m., at the Fayad Jamís Bookstore, dedicated on this occasion to the 172nd anniversary of José Martí’s birth.

Considered one of the most serious researchers of the legacy of the Apostle, Pedro Pablo Rodríguez has also dedicated himself to the study of several topics related to the history and thought of the Cuban nation.

Doctor in Historical Sciences, Professor and Senior Researcher, born in Havana, in 1946, his bibliography includes, among other titles, The First InvasionFrom Both AmericasFrom All Parts: Profiles of José Martí, and Journalism as a Mission, the latter being a compilation of studies on the Master’s journalism.

Among other awards, Pedro Pablo Rodríguez, who directs the critical edition of the Complete Works of José Martí, by the Center for Martí Studies, has also received the Critics' Prize, the Distinction for National Culture, the Carlos J. Finlay Order and the National History Prize for his life's work.

Book on Demand, which this year celebrates its 25th anniversary, is a monthly space created by the journalist and critic Fernando Rodríguez Sosa, at the headquarters of the Fayad Jamís Bookstore, with the purpose of establishing a dialogue with Cuban writers, who enrich contemporary island literature with their works.

The meeting is sponsored by the Fayad Jamís Bookstore and the Culture and Social Sciences Sections of the Economic Society of Friends of the Country and is led by Fernando Rodríguez Sosa.
