Fidel for us is a great example; I wish all leaders to be like him and many of them to have the dignity and integrity of the Commander, remarked in this capital American Manolo de los Santos. Talking to ACN, the Coordinator of the United States-Cuba Friendship Caravan, heading Pastors for Peace brigade who recently was here, wanted to convey congratulations to the leader of the Revolution for his 90th birthday next August 13th.

He described as very interesting the visit of the 41 representatives from that country, Germany, Sweden and Mexico, who toured hospitals, agricultural cooperatives, churches and other institutions in provinces such as Havana and Pinar del Rio, while a group of them participated in the act for the Day of National Rebellion, on July 26 in Sancti Spiritus.

There are many things from which the United States can learn on human development in Cuba, emphasized the 27-year-old man, resident in New York.

Referring to the meeting held at the House of Friendship with doctors who fought against Ebola in West Africa, De los Santos said: for us, it means to see again the commitment of Cuba with humanity.

What other country sent as many doctors to Africa and demonstrated the possibility of collaboration between the US and Cuba? He asked with emphasis.

He also thanked the Cuban people and government by training doctors at the Latin American School of Medicine, project gestated by Fidel and founded on November 15, 1999.

In its 12 graduations, this entity has graduated more than 27,000 health professionals from a hundred nations, according to statistics from that institution.

There are already more than 140 young Americans trained in Cuba, and although all the problems will not be solved, it is a good start to a more humanistic medicine in the United States, de los Santos stated.

The Pastors for Peace Caravan will continue insisting on the complete change of US-Cuba relations, we will not rest until we achieve it, said the interviewee.

Gail Walker, executive director of Pastors for Peace, announced that on the occasion of the Fidel´s birthday, in that northern country activities will be undertaken and in New York it is planned the placement of a plaque at the Theresa Hotel in Harlem, where Castro stayed in 1960 on the occasion of his speech at the UN.

As every year since 1992, last July the caravan toured several US cities, passed by Mexico and ended its trip in Cuba, where it ratified its traditional stance of solidarity with the Caribbean island.

This time, the message was primarily focused on demanding the lifting of the economic, financial and commercial blockade imposed by Washington to Cuba for over half a century.
