Cuba, Salvadoran foreign minister, Hugo Martinez, confirmed on Tuesday that President Salvador Sanchez Ceren will pay an official visit to Cuba May 26 and 27 to advance trade and cooperation relations with the island.
The foreign minister made the announcement during an interview Tuesday morning in the capital San Salvador with Cadena YSKL radio station.
The Salvadoran head of state will come with a delegation of seven government ministers from the sectors of health, education, the environment, agriculture, economy, foreign trade and from the technical secretariat of his presidency.
Sanchez Ceren would be given travel permission by his parliament on Tuesday afternoon as it is stipulated by the Salvadoran law for the president to travel abroad.
Cuba and El Salvador reestablished bilateral relations in 2009 after the first government led by the Farabundo Marti National Liberation Front took power in that country. The two countries have developed collaboration projects in the areas of health, education, agriculture, the environment and academic issues.
