Representatives from Cuban organizations and social actors think over the eight thematic priorities to be addressed at the Civil Society Forum of the VII Summit of the Americas, to be held in Panama next April 10-11.
Democratic governability, Citizens’ Participation, Migration, Security, Energy, Environment, Health and Education, are the main issues to be tackled from a revolutionary and experienced perspective in order to make suitable recommendations and proposals, which will be expressed by the Cuban organizations in the event.
“Pensando Americas” (Thinking Americas) is a new communicational platform sponsored by the Network in Defense of Humanity and other organizations of the Cuban civil society; namely, the United Nations Association of Cuba, the call adds.
It has been created to foster and support all the progressive causes of Latin America and the Caribbean as well as to provide space for a debate on the relationship between the two Americas.
“Prosperity with Equity: The Challenge of Cooperation in the Americas” is the central topic of the VII Summit. To present Cuba’s view on the thematic priorities to be considered in the forum is one of the goals of the event.
Likewise, it is important to highlight Cuban society’s solidarity and humanism with countries around the world. In addition to this, the aggressions perpetrated against the Caribbean island, the impact of the economic, financial, and commercial blockade, will be also denounced.
The panelists, divided into four working groups, will contribute with their viewpoints and will implement initiatives and recommendations while the results will be sent back in a plenary session in the afternoon.
This forum will be held at Casa del Alba Cultural and Casa de las Americas and it is going to be an excellent opportunity for Cuban civil society to share experiences and provide useful recommendations to the Cuban delegation to attend the Summit in Panama.
