Cuba, El Salvador Strengthen Ties after Sanchez Ceren's Visit

Havana, Oct 27 (Prensa Latina) Ties between Cuba and El Salvador are currently undergoing significant progress after the recent visit to Havana by President Salvador Sanchez Ceren.

A few minutes after arriving in Havana on Tuesday, Sanchez Ceren ratified his country's stance against the economic, commercial and financial blockade the United States government has imposed on Cuba.

We will continue fighting for an end to that siege. The blockade is an unjust decision against the people that has not allowed Cuba to develop fully, the Salvadorian president said.

During his visit, Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel met with Sanchez Ceren, with whom he reviewed the state of bilateral relations and the situation in the region.

Prior to the welcoming ceremony at the Palace of the Revolution, Sanchez Ceren laid a wreath at the foot of the monument to Cuban National Hero Jose Marti at the memorial that bears his name in Havana.

In the fremework of the visit, Cuba and El Salvador established new mechanisms to continue strengthening commercial relations by signing the first additional protocol of the Partial Scope Agreement.

Penned by Salvadoran Economics Minister Luz Estrella Rodriguez and Cuban Minister for Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment Rodrigo Malmierca, the agreement will improve tariffs and other trade mechanisms.

With the extension of the framework agreement, in force since 2012, both countries agreed on the integration of new products to the export portfolio with preferential tariffs.
