The president of Venezuela, Nicolas Maduro, said on Friday that, if necessary, he will visit the United Nations (UN) to defend the country's sovereignty, following the meeting of the Security Council requested by the United States.
'Any time you want to discuss our nation at the UN Security Council, we arwe ready, I will ask for a visa to attend the exchange personally,' the head of state told a press conference from the Miraflores Palace (headquarters of the Executive).
Maduro said the Foreign Minister of the Republic, Jorge Arreaza, will bring before the multilateral body all the truth about the Venezuelan reality, the attempted coup d'état and the disrespect of the Constitution by the right.
Similarly, he did not rule out the possibility of dialogue with the authorities in Washington. However, Maduro said about president Donald Trump and his cabinet: 'arrogance, arrogance blinds them, drives them crazy.'
He pointed out that this U.S. attitude prevents bilateral exchange, and stressed that 'the United States does not want to talk.'
In this regard, the president indicated that 'every time I talk about dialogue with imperialists, they immediately say: 'Maduro cowered, we are going to overthrow him'.
Finally, he stressed that the possibility of understanding tries to propitiate in defense of moral and political convictions 'because I believe in peace and not in violence, the way is dialogue to settle conflicts,' the president said.
