Vote Strengthens Independence and Sovereignty, Venezuelan FM Says

Caracas, Dec 9 (Prensa Latina) The vote strengthens Venezuela's Independence and sovereignty, Foreign Minister Jorge Arreaza said on Sunday, when citizens are voting in the municipal elections.
It is the fifth election over the past 16 months in the country. The Municipal Councils are essential for local life; no one will take us to a conflict. In Venezuela, solutions are built in democracy, the diplomat wrote on his Twitter account.
For his part, the vice president of the ruling United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV), Diosdado Cabello, noted that the election is running smoothly.
'We are moving towards a new victory of the revolutionary forces, we report normality in the installation of the boards and voting stations,' Cabello said on Twitter.
The National Electoral Council of Venezuela called on more than 20.704 million people to vote for 2,459 municipal council people with their substitutes for the 2019-2022 period.
According to reports, 51 political organizations, 21 national and 11 regional parties, and indigenous and regional organizations are participating in the elections.
