Ecuadorans have donated nearly 10 tons of humanitarian aid that will be sent to Gaza in coming days.

The Ecuadoran government continued Tuesday its campaign to collect donations of foods and clothing for Palestine people affected by the Israeli offensive.

The humanitarian aid will be sent in an Ecuadoran Armed Forces plane to Egypt, and from there it will be transported by land to the besieged Gaza Strip.

The humanitarian campaign started eight days ago, and at the request of the general population, the drive will be extended till August 25 to collect the biggest amount of foods, clothes and others things, the Ecuadoran authorities said.

Foreign Minister Ricardo Patiño said nearly 10 tons have been collected so far.

"The population has been generous, and has given numerous contributions to take to Gaza. We are about to complete 10 tons to take there. And we will continue," he published on Twitter.

The Foreign Ministry, the National Secretary Office for Risks, and the Public Health Ministry of Ecuador are working in the selection of sanitary and medical material, requested by the National Palestine Authority.

Ecuador has repeatedly expressed its rejection to Israel’s deadly attacks on Gaza which started on July 8.

According to Hamas officials, despite the fact that a temporary truce was supposed to be in effect, there were at least 25 airstrikes on Gaza on Tuesday

A few days ago, hundreds of people gathered outside the Israeli embassy in Quito to condemn the attacks that have killed more than 2,000 Palestinians, mostly civilians, including 540 children.

Health authorities on the ground report that some 10,200 people have been injured despite pressure from the international community on the Tel Aviv regime to end its disproportionate aggression against Palestinians.
