Twelve Cuban women signed to play in Argentina

The imminent participation of his twelve women in the Argentina´s major league, as well as the arrival of Cuba men´s basketball team to Chinese lands, highlights these days in the basketball panorama in Cuba.

According to the official website of the Argentine tournament —confirmed by Cuba´s National Federation— the Cuban basketball players were listed in the eight teams registered to play in the second edition of a tournament that kicks off this Saturday.

As part of a draw, Leidys Oquendo Valdes (33, 180cm) will play for the Atletico Talleres de Parana by Coach Cristian Gomez.

This club also picked up Guantanamo Pivot Yuniesky Bouly (23, 184) in the same round that two Ecuadorians and a Uruguayan were drawn.

The rest of Cuban basketball players are: Team Estrella de Berisso (Anisleidy Galindo, Leanyi Becquer), Team Berazategui (Marlene Cepeda), Team Tomas de Rocamora (Edith Thompson, and Lisdeyvi Martinez), Team Libertad (Anay García), Team Obras (Arlenis Romero), Team Union Florida (Fransy Ochoa, Anilegna Colas Ortega), and Team Lanus (Dairis Tornell).

The tournament has three stages: regular, semifinals, and Final Four and it granted two spots to the South American Basketball Club Championship, which was won by the Union Florida a season ago.

Men to play tournament in China

Men, coached by Yoannis Zaldivar, went to play in China until October 31^st. And they will face Canada, US, and the host China.

Some of the most experienced players are playing abroad so these men were not called up. The team in China is composed of Yasser Rodriguez, Osmel Oliva, Karel Guzman, Yuniskiel Molina, William Granda, Yoanki Mesias, Yoel Cubilla, Freddy Marlins, German Luis Clark, Eliecer Quintana, Carlos Villegas, and Mario Luis Troyano.
