Cuba Announces Teams for World Chess Olympiad

The Cuban National Chess Commission reported the formation of the male and female teams which will represent Cuba in the upcoming World Olympiad.
The teams are headed by Leinier Dominguez (male) and Lisandra Ordaz (female).
According to a note from the Commission, Cuban Grand Masters Aryam Abreu and Roman Hernandez were ratified as captains of the male and female teams respectively.
Dominguez (11th place in the world ranking) will accompanied by Great Masters Lazaro Bruzon, Yuniesky Quesada, Isam Ortiz and Yuri Gonzalez, this last one a rookie in such a competition.
Sulennis Pina, Yanira Vigoa, Maritza Arribas and Yaniet Marrero, all of them Great Masters, will compete alongside Ordaz.
For the World Olympiad, to be celebrated from August 2 to 14 August in the Norwegian city of Tromso, both teams will try to excel their best historical placings.
The most outstanding performance by a male team wasmaterialized in Calvia-2004 when Cuba got the 7th place, with 33.5 points.
Meanwhile, the girls enjoyed their greatest glory in Khanty-Mansiysk in 2010, when they got 30 units and closed as fourth place.
