A process with room for improvement and that seeks to update according to international trends is the hiring of Cuban athletes, always with the premise of protecting the athlete, transcended today in this capital city.

In a meeting with the press at the Havana´s Sports City Coliseum, Ramiro Dominguez, legal director of the National Institute of Sports, Physical Education and Recreation (INDER by its Spanish acronym), assured that they are working to advance in that subject and its main objectives.

He mentioned that regardless of the number of hiring abroad, the essential thing is that those who have that opportunity raise their technical training through facing rivals from other countries.

He also stressed the importance of this process having an impact on improving performance in international competitions and increasing the quality of national tournaments, of course looking for ways for those engaged to also attend domestic tournaments here in Cuba.

Dominguez explained that by the end of 2018, 75 contracts were made with INDER, with highlight to baseball, which with 27 appears first on the list, followed by basketball, handball and volleyball.

So far, more than 30 ballplayers enrolled in foreign leagues have been reinserted into the Cuban Baseball Federation (FCB), which was influenced by the historic agreement between FCB and MLB.

The INDER official finally said that the increase in payments to judges, referees and support staff participating in the National Baseball Series, and the extension of both individual and team awards systems to the sports with the greatest number of audiences, is being studied, let´s say baseball, athletics, basketball, soccer and softball.
