Cuban antiterrorist fighter Gerardo Hernandez continues with his tour to Canada, where he is acclaimed by those, who fought for the release of the Five Cuban Antiterrorist Fighters.
Hernandez met in Vancouver with unionists of the health sector in British Columbia, and then met with the prestigious lawyer and civil rights activist, Tom Louise.
At the meetings, the Hero of the Republic of Cuba appreciated the support of the international campaign for the release of the Cuban Five and shared very personal experiences of his years in prison in the United States.
Since arriving in Canada, Hernandez was welcomed by enthusiastic people, who denounced the injustice committed against him and against Antonio Guerrero, Rene Gonzalez, Ramon Labañino and Fernando Gonzalez.
After a process with many irregularities and visibly politicized, the Cuban Five were arrested in 1998 in the United States, where they were gathering information to thwart terrorist acts against Cuba.
Since then, they were deprived of human rights in maximum security prisons, where they spent long time confined in solitary cells.
After being released from prison, the Cuban Five have traveled to different countries in order to thank the international support in demanding justice for a case that showed the double standards of the United States on terrorism.
