Xi Jinping invites Turkmen President to China-Central Asia summit

The Chinese president, Xi Jinping, invited his Turkmen counterpart, Serdar Berdimujamedov, to the China-Central Asia summit to be held in China on May 18th and 19th, the TDH news agency reported.
The invitation was delivered to the President of Turkmenistan during a meeting with the Chinese Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ma Zhaoxu, in Ashgabat.
The Chinese diplomat conveyed warm greetings to the Turkmen leader on behalf of the Chinese president and the invitation to take part in the upcoming Central Asia-China summit, the agency reported.
Ma stressed that China attaches great importance to strengthening relations with Turkmenistan.
Berdimujamedov, for his part, emphasized that the advancement of ties with China is a priority for Turkmenistan and is part of its foreign policy strategy.
The leaders of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan are expected to attend the summit, to be held in the Chinese city of Xi’an.
