Caracas, Feb 22 (Prensa Latina) Venezuela rejected on Monday the decision of the Foreign Affairs Council of the European Union to impose coercive measures against 19 officials of this country, including high diplomats, magistrates and representatives of the public authorities.

On a communiqué issued by the Foreign Ministry, the Venezuelan government described the new interference maneuver as a reaction of the community bloc 'due to the crystal-clear ineffectiveness of its actions' to force a change of regime in Venezuela.

Likewise, the Bolivarian Executive condemned the pretensions to negatively affect the national dialogue process, taking place in the country.

The European Union approved on Monday new coercive measures against Venezuela, adding 19 people to its list of sanctioned individuals, in response to the legislative elections on December 6, which the EU considered illegitimate and lacking in guarantees.

'Those erratic decisions also reveal the inability of the European bloc to attend to, respect and accept the will of the Venezuelan people, and once again unfold its anachronistic interventionist and interfering policy towards Venezuela,' the statement referred.

Likewise, the government pointed out this illegal action as an affront to the United Nations, which, through its special rapporteur on coercive measures, demanded the lifting of the known sanctions.
