Near kilometer 71 on the road to this southern municipality of the country’s largest territory, a passenger lorry went off the road, in an accident that left one man dead, Ramón Chávez, a resident of Jacinto González, in this locality.

Speaking to the local press, Rodolfo Domínguez, director of the Manuel Ascunce Provincial Hospital, where several of those involved were taken, reported that ‘the main injuries have been monitored, fractures of the upper and lower limbs’.

‘So far they have not had to require surgery or progressive care in our institution, some of the patients will be under surveillance for surgery for simple thoracic and abdominal traumas, which do not compromise the patient’s lives,’ said the doctor.

Meanwhile, at the Eduardo Agramonte Piña Paediatric Hospital, some twenty minors are also recovering, while another 15 patients with minor injuries remain in hospitals in Santa Cruz del Sur.

After the unfortunate mishap, government authorities arrived at the site and kept abreast of the deployment of the infrastructure to guarantee medical services to those involved, who also received massive popular support through blood donations.
