Paris, Jul 28 (Prensa Latina) The Cuba Cooperation France Association (CubaCoop) on Thursday denounced that the United States still does not accept the reality of a sovereign and independent island, which freed itself from its exploitative domination.

“The powerful neighbor, which had made Cuba its colony by exploiting the resources and leaving the population into poverty, never accepted to be expelled, and has imposed on it a merciless economic, commercial and financial blockade for more than 60 years,” CubaCoop stressed in its weekly publication La lettre electronique Hebdo.

Signed by Vice President Michel Humbert, the message from the association founded in 1995 to promote commercial ties and the French-Cuban rapprochement also pointed out that Washington resorts to slander and propaganda to denigrate a government democratically elected by the population.

The triumph of the Cuban Revolution on January 1, 1959, put an end to decades of US domination over the island, with the overthrow of the Fulgencio Batista dictatorship.

CubaCoop highlighted the National Rebellion Day celebration in the Caribbean nation two days ago, which recalled the attacks on the Moncada and Carlos Manuel de Cespedes garrisons on July 26, 1953, two historic events that plotted the way to the Revolution.

The Lettre electronique Hebdo echoes the speech delivered by Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel in central Cienfuegos province on the occasion of the national date, particularly the social achievements made by that process, despite US aggressions.

Over the last 25 years, CubaCoop has materialized dozens of projects to support Cuba’s socioeconomic development, in sectors such as food security, water, sanitation, health and culture.
