France's Interior Minister, Gérald Darmanin, today reported the arrest of 200 suspects since the start of the Olympic Games in Paris a week ago. In declarations to the media, he indicated that 180 people were taken into custody.
Likewise, the French minister underlined that during this week there was a 24 percent decrease in robberies with violence, a 10 percent decrease in car thefts and, in general, crime was reduced.
This, he said, was due to the presence of the Police and the Armed Forces on public roads and he thanked these “excellent numbers” to the authorities and law enforcement at a national level.
Darmanin pointed out that the authorities will continue this broad security system beyond the Olympics or the future Paralympic Games.
In this regard, measures such as video protection cameras and the deployment of police officers and marshals will remain in place.
