Soccer legend Pele is hospitalized for colon tumor treatment

Brasilia, Dec 8 (Prensa Latina) Brazilian soccer legend Edson Arantes do Nascimento, Pele, was admitted into a Sao Paulo hospital to continue his treatment against a colon tumor that was detected in September, the institution reported on Wednesday.

Pele is “stable” and should be discharged in the next few days, according to the medical team treating him at the Albert Einstein Hospital.

The 81-year-old former soccer player had the tumor detected in his colon during routine examinations, and underwent surgery last September.

The team of experts taking care of the three-time World Cup winner explained at the time that he would continue with chemotherapy, a treatment for cancer patients.
