Silvio Rodriguez dedicates doctoral award to Cuban Song Movement

Havana, Jun 2 (Prensa Latina) Singer-songwriter Silvio Rodriguez dedicated the Doctor Honoris Causa Award in Social Sciences and Humanities, which was conferred to him on Friday by the University of Havana (UH), to Cuba's Song Movement.

“It is indescribable to be recognized by the institution where so many personalities have made history, especially if this happens in the country where I was born, the renowned composer and musician said at the ceremony, which took place this morning in the Aula Magna of the university of Havana.

I receive this recognition on behalf of the Cuban Song Movement of all times,” he stressed, visibly moved, at the ceremony, which was attended by President Miguel Diaz-Canel, senior government officials and representatives of Cuban culture.
