Russia rejects fake news on alleged invasion of Ukraine
especiales
The Russian presidential spokesman, Dmitri Peskov, rejected the publication by the Bloomberg news agency of a fake news about the beginning of an invasion of Ukraine by Russia.
According to the Russian official, the error of the U.S. media outlet shows how dangerous is the reigning tension, caused by daily declarations from the United States, the UK, and other European countries.
Peskov warned that any spark in a tense situation like the current one is dangerous, although he considered that what happened “could hardly be a provocation” and pointed out that the agency itself apologized for the fact.
Bloomberg posted an article under the headline “Russia invaded Ukraine” on its website, which it later deleted and acknowledged its mistake in a statement explaining that the circumstances leading to the ruling are being investigated.
The head of the Kremlin press service told the Sputnik agency that the event could cause the Russian authorities to replace the term fake news with Bloomberg-News, when referring to news hoaxes, “and we will be within our rights.”
During the last few months, some Western and Ukrainian countries and media have spread constant and identical statements about a possible invasion of Ukraine on Russia’s part, a matrix of opinion that has been rejected by the Kremlin.
Russia viewed such a strategy as an attempt to escalate tension and reiterated that the country does not pose a threat to anyone.
