Moscow, Mar 19 (Prensa Latina) Representatives from Russia, China, the United States and Pakistan (expanded troika) ratified the need to promote the inter-agency dialogue to achieve a diplomatic settlement and a ceasefire in that nation, it was reported on Friday.

Delegations from the Government and the Supreme Council for National Reconciliation of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan (IRA), prominent political figures from the country, the Taliban Movement and emissaries from Qatar and Turkey, also attended the meeting held in Moscow on Thursday.

According to the joint statement released by the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the members of the expanded troika support the demand by the Afghan people to reach a just, lasting peace and the end to the war, which, they agreed, can be achieved through a political and diplomatic settlement.

The text urges all parties to reduce levels of violence in the country and calls on the Taliban movement not to declare an offensive spring-summer campaign to avoid more victims and create a favorable environment for a political and diplomatic settlement.

Among the priorities, the document cites the analysis on how to build a future peaceful and stable Afghan state, the content of a political roadmap leading to an inclusive government and the possibility of reaching a permanent and complete ceasefire.

Russia, China, the United States and Pakistan call on all Afghans to ensure that terrorist groups do not use their territory to threaten the security of any other country.
