Russia calls for an end to US coercive measures against Cuba
especiales
The representative of the Russian Federation to the United Nations General Assembly today ratified his country's invariable position for the immediate lifting of the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the U.S. government against Cuba.
He expressed that the framework of coercive measures undermines the principles of International Law, the United Nations Charter and international cooperation, and prevents the full participation of the island in international and regional spaces.
Russian representative emphasized the unjustified nature of maintaining the siege when the largest of the Antilles does not constitute any threat to the national security of the United States and its citizens and prevents a sovereign State from advancing with its own development model.
He pointed out that these measures constitute an example of how the United States intends to intimidate other countries and perpetuate its own neocolonial model under a false facade of legitimacy.
Regarding the inclusion of Cuba on the list of alleged sponsors of terrorism, he described it as a baseless lie that shows the double standards of U.S. imperialism of using the fight against this scourge to collectively punish an entire nation.
The immediate end of the blockade would benefit not only the peoples of Cuba and the United States, but also international and regional cooperation, he added.
