The leader of the Cuban Revolution, Army General Raul Castro, on Saturday met here with Colonel General He Weidong, vice president of China’s Central Military Commission.
During the meeting, they both confirmed the excellent state of relations between the two peoples, parties, governments and armed forces.
Raul Castro availed himself of the occasion to convey a strong hug to the president of that Asian nation, Xi Jinping.
On the Cuban side, the Minister of the Revolutionary Armed Forces, Army Corps General Alvaro Lopez Miera, attended.
The visitor was joined by Hua Xin, ambassador of the People’s Republic of China in Cuba and other members of the delegation accompanying He Weidong.
On Friday, the Chinese military officer had met with President Miguel Diaz-Canel, at the Palace of the Revolution, the seat of the executive.
During the meeting, the Cuban president stressed that in both nations the armed forces are an important bulwark in the construction of socialism, which is why the high-level visit of the People’s Liberation Army of China is an honor.
Díaz-Canel also acknowledged the support and solidarity from China to Cuba, against the backdrop of complex circumstances stemming from the US blockade on the island, which has intensified in recent years.
