Havana, Feb 21 (Prensa Latina) The photographic exhibition Créeme, in homage to the 50th anniversary of the Nueva Trova Movement, will be inaugurated this Friday, at 4:00 p.m. local time, at the Havana International Press Center, reported today the institution.

The exhibition proposes a historical synthesis that recalls, through images, significant dates of the movement, as well as making visible and promoting the work of founders and exponents of the genre, of great impact and musical reception on the Caribbean island and in Latin America.

In the exhibition will appear photographs of the Cuban artist Iván Soca, as well as other snapshots, documents and personal objects, provided by Casa de las Américas, the Cuban Institute of Cinematographic Art and Industry and the Museum of Music, institutions of the Antillean nation closely linked with the 50th anniversary of the NuevaTrova.

Open until April, the exhibition is a project of the Cuban Ministry of Culture, in collaboration with the National Council of Plastic Arts and the Cuban Institute of Music.

In December 2022, the trova was declared Cultural Heritage of Cuba, during the celebration of the XXVII edition of the Carlos Puebla In Memoriam National Festival, in the eastern city of Manzanillo, a stage that welcomed the concretion of Nueva Trova as an artistic movement supported by important musicians and singer-songwriters of the island.

Throughout the last five decades, this current of art and thought played a fundamental role in different political, social and cultural contexts in Cuba and Latin America, due to its critical and transformative spirit.
