The new school year begins today in Cuba for several schools

The new 2021-2022 school year begins today for several education levels: junior and senior high school, technical and professional, pedagogical training for all educational institutions and youth and adult education, as announced by Education Minister Ena Elsa Velázquez Cobiella.

"The tradition in Cuba is that each school year begins on the first Monday of September, which is a family event and for the whole society," she said on that occasion.

During a televised appearance, Velázquez Cobiella pointed out that there is a guarantee of a completed vaccination process and compliance with sanitary measures in educational institutions.

She added that the existing methodological adjustments would be maintained without eliminating contents or affecting the goals to be achieved in each grade.  Primary education will start on March 14, in a school term that will last until November 19.

The Education Minister added that the school break is kept as a tribute and salute to the victory of Girón, from April 18 to 23, and the summer vacation from July 28 to August 27 for teachers and students until September 3.

Therefore, classes will resume on September 5 and culminate on November 19.
