The beginning of a new dialogue with all Venezuelan political sectors, promoted by the National Assembly (Parliament) to review the electoral laws, marked the week ending on Saturday in this nation.

The initiative was promoted by Parliament President Jorge Rodriguez in Tuesday’s ordinary session. The 38 political parties and movements that participated in the July 28 elections attended the summons 48 hours later.

Only the representatives of the so-called Democratic Unity Platform, which brings together the country’s most extremist opposition, were not present at the Federal Legislative Palace.

The aim is to review the provisions approved by the Legislative Power, such as the organic laws of Political Parties and Public Demonstrations, Electoral Processes, and Election Power, included in Article 130 of the Constitution.

As a result of the first meeting, three commissions were set up to review the works, which would have concrete proposals next week.
