Brussels, Jul 13 (Prensa Latina) Belgian MEP Marc Botenga on Thursday defended the rejection of Washington's hostilities against Cuba at the Summit between the European Union (EU) and the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC), to be held in this capital next week.

The member of the Left Group in the European Parliament told Prensa Latina that this forum, scheduled for July 17-18, presents stances against the blockade imposed on Cuba by the United States and the Caribbean island’s inclusion in the unilateral list of countries that sponsor terrorism.

Botenga described as criminal the economic, commercial, and financial blockade against Cuba for more than 60 years, and condemned Cuba’s inclusion on the list, considering that it refers to a country that sent doctors to Europe during the Covid-19 pandemic.

The Euro MP warned that addressing these issues at the EU-CELAC Summit would be a clear message against the US imperialist policies.

According to the Belgian Workers’ Party activist, the bi-regional meeting, the first to be held by the parties since 2015, should promote joint work in favor of the sovereignty of all nations and equal relations.
