'The Mamdani Effect'?: Socialist Club Launches in New Jersey
especiales

A school in an affluent New Jersey neighborhood has launched its own 'socialist club for youth,' inviting potential participants with posters featuring a portrait of Karl Marx and phrases extracted from his Communist Manifesto, Fox News reported this Saturday.
The flyer from Highland Park High School, obtained by the outlet, shows Karl Marx pointing forward with his index finger, mimicking the pose of 'Uncle Sam' from the emblematic American recruitment poster of World War I. "We Want You!" reads the header, appropriating the iconic phrase.
"Workers of the world, unite!" the poster also exhorts, employing the famous political slogan from the Communist Manifesto.
When questioned about this extracurricular activity, the school merely responded that all clubs at such educational institutions "are subject to the Equal Access Act, which requires school districts to allow extracurricular clubs, regardless of their political content."
Fox News highlights that the launch of this youth club could be an effect of the most recent victory by socialist Democratic politician Zohran Mamdani in the New York City mayoral election. A poll cited by the outlet conducted earlier this year indicates that American youth increasingly identify with the socialist movement.
