Iran criticized the silence of the International Atomic Energy Association (IAEA) in the face of the murder of a Persian nuclear scientist and demanded a clear position from that body on the incident, it was reported today.

'An IAEA condemnation of this terrorist act is expected,' Kazem Gharibabadi, the representative of the Islamic Republic before international organizations in Vienna, subscribed on social networks.

According to the diplomat, the agency must assume responsibilities to one of the members who receives the highest worldwide level of inspections and with the most transparent nuclear program, he said.

But at the same time, he added, its scientists are killed or under threat of assassination, its nuclear facilities are sabotaged or threatened with sabotage, he said.

Gharibabadi thus reacted to comments from IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi, who refused to condemn the murder of Mohsen Fakhrizadeh and instead advised Iran not to halt inspections at its nuclear sites in response to the crime.

According to Grossi, the essential thing is to give the world credible guarantees there will be no diversion of the nuclear program towards military uses.

Comments from the head of the UN atomic entity also addressed the call of the Islamic Consultative Assembly of Iran (Parliament) to restrict inspections to nuclear sites in the country of the Persians.

Two acts of sabotage, of which Tehran suspects that it is the doing of Israel and the United States, were registered last July at the Natanz plant with a balance of material damage and the murder this Friday of nuclear scientist Mohsen Fakhrizadeh.
