Holguín to Host the 2025 Cuban Baseball All-Star Game

For the second time in Cuban baseball history, the Calixto García Stadium in Holguín will host the All-Star Game of the National Series, scheduled for November 1 and 2, 2025.
The announcement was made during a press conference by Juan Reinaldo Pérez Pardo, president of the National Baseball and Softball Commission, who confirmed the venue for the marquee event of the 64th edition of the Cuban championship.
Pérez Pardo praised the performance of the Cachorros (Holguín team) throughout the season, the strong support of their fans, and the quality of the province’s infrastructure—factors that led to its selection among three candidates, which also included Las Tunas and Cienfuegos.
The northeastern province’s team currently sits in second place in the standings with a record of 23 wins and 11 losses, just half a game behind the leader, Matanzas (24–11).
At present, Holguín boasts the best winning streak in the tournament, with seven consecutive victories and eight wins in its last ten games.
The Cachorros’ home stadium has hosted the All-Star spectacle only once before—on March 17, 2002, during the 41st season—when the Western All-Stars defeated the Eastern squad 8–1.
According to baseball statistician Benigno Daquinta’s archives, that game was won by right-hander Carlos Yanes from Isla de la Juventud, while Vladimir Hernández from Villa Clara took the loss.
Since the first All-Star Game was held in 1963, only Havana’s Estadio Latinoamericano has hosted the event more than ten times—13 in total.
The most recent All-Star Game took place in 2022 at Victoria de Girón Stadium in Matanzas, where the Western team triumphed 12–11.
So far, the two regions are tied with 16 victories each. In 1994, the teams played under the names Thunders and Sparks, while in 2020, rosters were divided by age—players under 25 and those over 25.
The only All-Star Game ever canceled due to rain occurred in 2015 in Las Tunas, when weather conditions prevented the completion of at least five innings.
