The Christian-ecumenical civil organization Fundalatin demanded the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights and the various UN agencies to strongly condemn the criminalization and kidnapping of Venezuelans.

In a statement, the Latin American Foundation for Human Rights and Social Development (Fundalatin) called to defend “without hesitation their human rights, guarantees and dignity in the face of the persecution to which our compatriots are being subjected”.

It also repudiated the systematic human rights violations committed by the US authorities, who kidnapped more than 200 Venezuelan migrants, subjecting them to cruel, inhuman and degrading treatment.

In addition to forcibly deporting them to prisons in El Salvador, “flagrantly violating the Charter of the United Nations, International Law and Human Rights, among other international instruments”.

The note condemned the silence that surrounds the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights when it comes to Venezuelan migrants who “have been victims of xenophobia, discrimination, hatred, racism, labor exploitation, among other abuses and violations of their rights”.
