Havana, March 8 (RHC)-- Cuba's mixed Olympic table tennis duo, made up of Daniela Fonseca and Jorge Moises Campos, was unstoppable until winning gold medals on Monday night at the Caribbean Championship held in the Cuban capital.

The hosts defeated Dominicans Esmerilyn Castro and Isaac Vila 3-0, with 11-5, 12-10 and 11-7 victories in the pairing.

"Although I have always gone out to give my best in any competition, now I feel more mature and more confident, after the last international experiences, especially the one at the training center in Germany," Fonseca, a 19-year-old matancera, told ACN.

Cuba won the previous gold medals in dispute in the Caribbean tournament, held at the Pabexpo facilities, both in the women's and men's teams.

The nation could sweep all the titles, as the Cubans will compete in today's four semifinals, the individual semifinals in both genders.

This Tuesday will be the sixth and last day of the competition, which grants quotas for the Pan American Championship next October in Santiago de Chile and is the beginning of the qualification for the 2023 World Championship, so that Cuba's table tennis is placed in an enviable position.
