Chilean President, Gabriel Boric, on Tuesday listed what he sees as his administration achievements in 2024, while assessing and the impending challenges for 2025, which include approving the pension reform.
In a nationwide message from La Moneda Palace, the president referred to the “Chile Cuida” (Chile Cares) law, designed to guarantee the rights of those who dedicate their time to caring for and accompanying bedridden patients or elderly people.
He also mentioned security measures which allowed the recovery of public spaces; the Educational Reactivation Plan, to benefit vulnerable students, and the payment of the Historical Debt to tens of thousands of teachers.
At a time when individualism usually prevails and we seem to be separated from each other, the Government is betting on neighborhoods, the community, families and schools, said the president.
Boric pointed out that starting from these spaces, rich in ties, memory, identity and affection, a better present and future can be built for all.
For this reason, he noted, I am convinced that the Pension System and the reform promoted by the Government must take care of those who today live on miserable pensions, he said.
The president touched on current times, in a world of dizzying changes and permanent challenges, such as the climate crisis and its effects on the way people live and their quality of life, or the technological advances that amaze, but threaten sectors such as employment and information.
Boric pointed out that we live on a planet where painful wars are occurring in different places, affecting global stability, the economy and the very future of humanity.
Given this panorama, he expressed his conviction that the best way to face these threats is through unity, respect and the will to ensure the well-being of all.
