Diaz-Canel urges energy recovery in Cuba's thermoelectric plant

Artemisa, March 18 (RHC)-- Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel stressed the energy potential of the Máximo Gómez Thermoelectric Power Plant and evaluated the recovery work at the site after the fire that occurred in recent days.
Through its Twitter account, the site of the Presidency updated on the visit of the president to this entity as part of the comprehensive tour of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC) to the province of Artemisa.
"We have to work with quality and efficiency and recover everything we can," said Diaz-Canel to the Minister of Energy and Mines, Liván Arronte, during his visit to the power plant.
The president urged to learn from the best experiences so that everything would be better than before and called to turn setbacks into victories.
A major fire broke out at the Máximo Gómez thermoelectric plant in Mariel, located west of Havana, with no human losses reported.
On the night of Monday, March 7, the incident occurred when a steam turbine of unit seven of the plant caught fire, causing an automatic shutdown of the system.
