Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel today denounced the terrorist attack perpetrated against the Cuban embassy in Washington and urged the U.S. authorities to respond.

“Last night, once again, hatred launched a terrorist attack against our embassy in Washington, in an act of violence and impotence that could have cost valuable lives,” the president said in his account on the social network X, formerly Twitter.

We denounce it and we expect action from the U.S. authorities, he stressed.

The day before, Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez informed that the Cuban diplomatic headquarters had been the target of a terrorist attack by an individual who threw two Molotov cocktails.

On the same platform, Rodriguez announced that there were no damages to the personnel and the details are specified. “This is the second violent attack against the diplomatic headquarters in Washington,” he recalled.

In April 2020, an individual shot at the Cuban embassy in Washington, causing material damage to the building.

According to official data, at least 581 acts of state terrorism have occurred against diplomatic representations of Cuba since the triumph of the Revolution, in January 1959.
