Havana, Aug 3 (Prensa Latina) Cuban shooters Leuris Pupo and Jorge Felix Alvarez reaffirmed their interest in achieving a medal in the 25 meter rapid fire pistol in Tokyo, with one year to go before the final of the 32nd Olympics.

This was stated to the Jit website, the information body of the Cuban Sports Institute, to which they declared they will fight to enter the final on August 2nd, 2021, and then to climb the coveted Olympic podium in Asaka.

Pupo, medalist in London-2012, recalled that most of those who achieved classification for the Japan Olympics know each other, and that they only have to do a good preparation to achieve the goal.

After gold in London and a fifth place in Rio de Janeiro 2016, Pupo aspires to dispute his third final in a row, and for this, he said that in the first instance they will seek to make up for lost time and then fight for a good result.

The Olympic Shooting tournament has 15 specialties and 300 athletes, and is scheduled to start on July 24th, 2021.

So far, in addition to Pupo and Alvarez, pistol shooters Laina Perez and Jorge Grau, and the rifle shooter Eglys de la Cruz have classified for Cuba as well.
