Cuban residents in Belgium hold caravan againt US blockade

Cuban residents in Belgium and local solidarity organizations held a caravan in Brussels on Sunday to demand the end of the United States economic, commercial and financial blockade against Cuba.

In statements to Prensa Latina, Alberto Alonso stated that the initiative by the Association of Cuban Residents in Belgium (CubaBel) responds to the call to develop a world campaign this weekend to condemn the blockade imposed by Washington for 60 years.

Representatives of the organizations Cubanismo.be, Friends of Cuba in Belgium and the Belgian Coordinating Committee against the Blockade against Cuba also participate in a demonstration at the esplanade of the Atomium, one of the emblematic sites in Brussels, he said.

According to Alonso, the caravan involved people on bicycles, cars and on foot, while keeping the necessary precautions to prevent contagion with Covid-19.

We took photos to disseminate them on social media and on CubaBel website, said one of the organizers of the event, which follows those held on Saturday in dozens of European cities and globally to repudiate the US blockade against Cuba.

Regarding the current restrictions to curb the spread of Covid-19, participants in the caravan have one hour to demonstrate.
