Two female researchers from the Center for Environmental Studies of Cienfuegos (CEAC) are participating in the event "For more women in nuclear energy", developed by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
The event is being held from March 7 to 8 in Vienna, Austria, to commemorate International Women’s Day.
Liana Beatriz Carballo Rosado and Eng. Anamary Acosta Valladares, CEAC’s Aspiring Researchers, are participating as delegates in the meeting, which is being held within the framework of the IAEA’s “Marie Skłodowska-Curie” and “Lise Meitner” Fellowship Programs.
Both Cuban participants were awarded a scholarship from the Agency’s Skłodowska-Curie Program, which aims to increase the number of women in the nuclear field, thus contributing to create an inclusive workforce to participate in and drives scientific and technological innovation on a global scale.
The IAEA works to address the underrepresentation of women in the nuclear field through the IAEA Marie Skłodowska-Curie Fellowship Programme (MSCFP) and the Lise Meitner Programme (LMP); by enabling more women to access careers and pursue studies in the nuclear field, the programs contribute to building the future nuclear workforce.
The CEAC was recently designated “IAEA Collaborating Center for the Application of Nuclear and Isotopic Techniques in the Study of Coastal-Marine Ecosystems in the Latin American and Caribbean Region”.
