Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel said the official visit to our country of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Panama, Janaina Tewaney Mencomo was very significant.

According to the Presidency's website, the meeting took place at the Convention Palace, after the participation of the Cuban president in the inauguration of the International Congress Pedagogy 2023.

This is the first visit of this level during the current government of Panama, which we appreciate as a gesture, said the head of state.

Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla, Cuban Minister of Foreign Affairs, Federico Alfaro Boyd, Panamanian Minister of Commerce and Industry, and other officials were present at the meeting.

Díaz-Canel expressed the will to strengthen the political and diplomatic dialogue, as well as to advance in all areas " in which we can have economic and commercial cooperation".

In this sense, the President considered that it is possible to "work together in areas such as health, education, and culture", among others.

During the dialogue, the Cuban President highlighted the long tradition of friendship and respect between the two countries; and took the opportunity to send affectionate greetings to the Panamanian President, Laurentino Cortizo, and extended an invitation to visit Cuba when his agenda allows it.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs conveyed a greeting of fraternity, brotherhood, and friendship from the people of Panama, and also from its President and Vice President.

Tewaney Mencomo highlighted the cooperation between Cuba and Panama in different aspects.

She also detailed some of the activities she carried out as part of her visit, in particular, she highlighted the presence of the Minister of Trade and Industry in her delegation as a sign of her intention to achieve a balanced trade balance and to support whatever is needed (Source: ACN).
